About
WWU Cycling is the official cycling team of Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. We are a co-ed club sport that races competitively in races all over the Northwest. Our team consists of about 30 riders, both men and women, that race in all disciplines of cycling from the beginner to the professional level.

New Riders
Every fall, dozens of new riders join our team, the vast majority having never raced before. Fall quarter is spent teaching our new riders basic pack-riding skills, how to train, and what to expect during the race season. Winter quarter, our rides get more serious with multiple team rides a week (see calendar) that emphasis race drills and tactics. By spring quarter we are racing. Our team has one of the best cycling programs in the country, with our road team acheving 2nd place in the regional conference and 4th place in the country in 2006. If you're interested in joining, come to our intial team meeting that happens at the beginning of the school year and join us on our team rides. If you're joining mid-season, don't worry about it, contact us and we'll get you started! We're always looking for new riders, especially women. While we are a racing team, the atmosphere on our team is low-key, and we're all there to have fun before anything else. Don't worry if you have never raced, most of us started cycling right here at Western too.

Elite Riders
The WWU Cycling team has many opportunities to help it's riders take cycling to the highest level. In particular, Western is very fortunate to be sponsored by the Institute of New Medicine (Inewmed) giving Western riders access to superior health care and coaching. Inewmed uses a combination of Eastern and Western Medicine to optimize our performance, recovery, and health. Inewmed works regularly with professional riders all over North America and Europe, including George Hincapie and Ryder Hesjedal. To have such facitilites available to an amateur team is almost unheard of, and Western is very grateful for Inewmed's support.
